Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. Unveils 2017 Principals and Teachers of the Year

Nobel Learning Communities, Inc. recently announced the recipients of its 2017 Principal and Teacher of the Year awards at the organization’s annual principal conference in Atlantic City, N.J. Nobel Learning Communities’ Principal and Teacher of the Year program recognizes the principals and teachers who stand out by demonstrating a strong commitment to inspire, motivate and educate students and staff alike.

The winners are:

  • Preschool Principal of the Year: William Gordon from Chesterbrook Academy Preschool on Providence Road West in Charlotte. Gordon was recognized for his commitment to teacher training at his school, as well as neighboring Chesterbrook Academy schools, and for fostering partnerships in the Charlotte community. Gordon began his education career 14 years ago as an after school teacher and camp counselor for Chesterbrook Academy. He has served in his current position since April 2016.
  • K-12 Principal of the Year: Whitney Ball from Evergreen Academy Elementary School in Bothell, Wash. Ball was honored for her exceptional leadership, coupled with her drive to ensure every student is provided with an opportunity to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Ball has been with Evergreen Academy for more than 17 years, and became principal in the summer of 2016.
  • Preschool Teacher of the Year: Kathy Shelden from Carrington Academy Midway in Cumming, Ga. Shelden was recognized for her dedication to her students and desire for teaching. Shelden incorporates emotional and social skills into her lessons to prepare her students for real-world experiences, and aims to create a well-rounded classroom by focusing on character education throughout the day. Shelden has been with Carrington Academy for five years.
  • K-12 Teacher of the Year: Amy Morey from Evergreen Academy Elementary School in Bothell, Wash. Morey received this award for her creativity in the classroom through project-based learning. She designed and continues to orchestrate the school’s farmer’s market and has helped other teachers tie classroom gardens into their science and social studies curricula. Morey has been with Evergreen Academy for three years.
