February 2020 News

A Note From Our Principal

Welcome to February!

It is hard to believe the first month of the new year has already come and gone. As this new month begins, we begin to look ahead to the 2020-2021 school year. Enrollment for Internal Families begins Monday February 3rd. Open Enrollment for outside families will begin March 2nd. Selecting a school for your child is one of the most important choices you will make. You are not simply selecting an academic environment; you are also choosing the attitude and values that surround your child. I would like to extend my gratitude to each of our families here at Evergreen Academy. Our academic environment is unique and special because each of you chose to enroll your child here. Our teachers and staff truly enjoy fostering academic excellence, instilling a love of active learning and providing experiences that enable your children to acquire a foundation of skills for lifelong achievement.

Thank you again for choosing Evergreen Academy. If you have family or friends interested in enrolling in one of our great programs next school year, please encourage them to contact us.

Please take a moment to read through the news and reminders below and let myself or anyone else on our administrative team know if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Kristina Sleister

Just type ‘Links 2 Home’ in the search bar for the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. After downloading Links 2 Home you can register with the same email address that was used to enroll your child in our school.

In addition to our newsletter the ‘For Parents’ section of our website also includes links to our monthly calendar and academic school year calendar. We update these items frequently to ensure you’re always in the know. Though we send information through Links 2 Home, our calendar can be printed or even downloaded directly to your device.

3 No-Bake Recipes to Make with Your
Preschooler this Valentine’s Day

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with your little one by making some easy, festive snacks together! Spending time in the kitchen is a great way for your child to practice counting, following instructions, measuring and using sequence words.

Below are three quick snacks that require no baking.

Red Smoothie

Make a delicious, healthy smoothie using a handful of ice, ½ cup raspberries, ½ cup strawberries, ½ banana, and 1 cup yogurt. Ask your child to wash and measure the produce, add the ingredients to the blender, and press the “on” button.

Valentine Snack Board

Go grocery shopping with your child and ask him to pick a few of his favorite fruits, vegetables, and cheeses. Use a small, heart-shaped cookie cutter and create a festive snack board together. Encourage him to sort the items and count each one as he adds it to the plate.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Gather pretzel rods, chocolate bars or candy melts, and assorted red, white and pink sprinkles. Melt the chocolate according to package directions. Ask your child to dip the pretzel rods into the melted chocolate and top with sprinkles. Place the pretzels on wax paper and allow to dry.
