They make learning fun and exciting, helping students explore new things and find what they love. Together, we create a special place where students can grow and learn every day. Education: I received my BA in Elementary Education from Evergreen State and then went on to the University of Washington’s MEd program. Interests: I am driven to continue to learn and grow as an educator and spend a lot of time on this (I received my Apple Coach certificate over the summer!). When I am not in the classroom, I love to go hiking up in the mountains, spend time with family and travel with my husband. Bonjour! Je m’appelle Mme Taber. Education: I graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Education and French, and with a minor in German. I studied at the University of Dijon in France for a quarter, and lived with a French family during that time. Experience: I have taught foreign language for many years. I have enjoyed working with kids from preschool age up to High School, and even at the Community College level. I have taught at Evergreen Academy for 26 years. I firmly believe that language exposure at an early age helps students to progress quickly in speaking and understanding not only the foreign language, but things about the culture as well. Passions and Interests: My passion is teaching children and helping them to understand the global world through learning the French language, customs, and people. My family had a foreign exchange student from Austria live with us for a year when I was in High School. From then on, I have always had an interest in foreign languages and visiting other countries. I love to travel and try to get to France whenever I can. I also enjoy reading, gardening, and making hand stamped cards. Washington State Certified Educator, endorsed in Elementary Education, English Language Learners, and Visual Arts. In my first year at Evergreen, I was an Online Academy (fully online) teacher, but I have now been teaching in person on campus. Passions/Interests: As a teacher, I am passionate about learning about and teaching to the whole child. It’s exciting to embrace the variety of qualities each child has, and to watch them grow in all types of directions – academically, emotionally, and socially. Outside of the classroom, I love roller skating, specifically going to skate parks! I also enjoy making crafts to sell at markets, something I am still learning and growing in.
