Mrs. Rachael Holmdahl - Second Grade

Proudly teaching at Evergreen Academy from 2012 to the current year!

Education:  Bachelor of Science: Human Development and Family Sciences from Oregon State University. Graduated 1994.  Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Oregon University.  Graduated 1996.

Experience in Education:  Throughout my 20+ years of experience in many areas of education; teaching primary grades is where my passion lies.  I started my teaching career in education back in 1996, by accepting a job teaching young children who had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Back then, ASD was a “little” known disorder, and rarely spoken about in mainstreamed educational settings.  All of us teachers that were trained to teach children with ASD, were employed by medical facilities and all of our ASD children were taught in the Early Childhood Special Education departments at these medical facilities.  Today, ASD children are mainstreamed on a regular basis into a typical classroom setting.  My first teaching job in a public school was as a 4th/5th grade teacher.  I moved to 3rd grade after a couple of years with the upper elementary kids.  In 2012, when my own two children were in elementary school, I decided to return to the classroom as a  full time teacher.  I taught 3rd grade at Evergreen Academy.  I spent the next couple of years being Evergreen’s main substitute teacher.  I started to miss having my own classroom again, so I signed on again, to teach full time in 2018.  I am currently teaching second grade and I am LOVING it!

Passion/Interests:  I consider myself a life-long learner.  I am always eager to learn new things both in the classroom and outside in the world.  I love to garden and enjoy learning about plants and flowers.  I have a very busy family with two teenage boys who are involved in sports both in school and outside of school.  I have two cats, they are sisters, and they bring me so much joy.
