Browse By Role All Roles Faculty Leadership Search Christa Allen Kindergarten Christa Allen Kindergarten Email At Evergreen Academy since 2013 Education: After earning a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a focus on elementary education from California State University at Sacramento I went on to secure my elementary teaching credential from Chapman University. I hold a credential in both California and Washington State. Experience: I have been a classroom teacher for 22 years. My experience is in both primary and secondary grades and with Gifted And Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) students. I enjoy teaching kindergarten and working with Evergreen families! Passions and Interests: I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their education. I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect. An education should empower a child and help him or her make a positive contribution to our world. I look forward to working with you and child this year. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and family. My interest include hiking, boating, reading and gardening. Curriculum and Instruction, Lesley University Experience: I have taught at Evergreen Academy since 1997, in both Kindergarten and First Grade. During my time here, I have also enjoyed training teachers in new curriculum, developing and improving our Kindergarten program, and working with O.P.T. to build our school community. Passions & Interests: I love the Northwest and all it has to offer, especially the opportunities to spend time outdoors enjoying the trees, the mountains, and the animals. My Yorkie and I get out for walks and exploring as often as we can. My other hobbies include traveling, photography, digital design, and perusing antique shops. My true passion, however, is teaching. I love working with these amazing kids, guiding them to discover and create each day. Elizabeth Bartholomew 5th Grade Elizabeth Bartholomew 5th Grade Email At Evergreen since 2020 Education: BA in Health and Fitness Education, BS in Exercise Science and a minor in Coaching from Seattle Pacific University. MS in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Experience: I am currently the 5th grade teacher here at Evergreen and have been since 2020. Before Evergreen I was a corp member for Teach for America and spent two years teaching 4th grade in Oklahoma City. I am also the teacher ambassador for Evergreen’s Student Council. Passion/Interests: As a teacher, one of my passions is creating a classroom environment where students can be themselves and learn to advocate for themselves and others. I love watching my students grow as they prepare for middle school. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, crafting, swimming, being outdoors, and spending time with my loved ones. Fun fact, I taught swim lesson, lifeguarded, and coached swimming before I became a teacher! Marlee Benett Marlee Benett Email Nina Chou Performing Arts Nina Chou Performing Arts Email An award-winning and versatile pianist and music educator, Nina has performed and taught throughout North America and Asia. Her goal as a teacher is to enrich her students’ lives by sharing her passion with them. In class, students discover and express their unique musical identities and grow as creative individuals and members of a musical community. It is her job as an educator to foster students’ innate musicality, empowering them to take joy in making music throughout their lives. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, spending time with her family and shih tzu, Nori. Nina holds a B.M. in Piano Performance from University of Toronto, a M.M. in Piano Performance from Manhattan School of Music, and a M.Ed. in Music and Music Education from Columbia University. I was born in Chile in a small town named Vallenar and my native language is Spanish. We moved to US in 2002 to live in Fairbanks, Alaska, where we lived two years, then we moved to Bothell, WA. I have four children and eight grandchildren. I hold a Bachelor’ s degree in Metallurgical Engineering and a Master’ s degree in Teaching with a major in Special Education. I am also certified to teach in WA State from preK-12 grade. I worked several years as a Metallurgical Engineer at the Gold Mines in Chile and I have an extensive volunteering work experience at the schools in WA as Assistant Teacher, Substitute teacher, and Parent volunteer. This is my first year working as a Spanish Teacher. My hobbies among others are listening music, playing some acoustic guitar, swimming, traveling, and spending quality time with my family! MLIS San Jose State University Experience: Prior to teaching, I worked two years in the Daniel J. Evans Library at The Evergreen State College and five years as a Research Data Coordinator with the University of Washington Osteoporosis Research Group managing data for up to twelve Phase III Clinical Drug Trials and co-authoring academic research papers. In my summers off from teaching I have done Scratch programming enrichment camps here at Evergreen. I am also an author and currently have one published book: Images of America, Leavenworth (Arcadia Publishing). Passions/Interests: One of the best things about being a technology teacher and librarian is when former students visit and tell me how much they appreciate everything I have taught them. I love knowing that when students move on to the next step in their educational career they are ready and able to use the library and technology resources available to them to further their learning. I have also been working with computers and programming since I was about 9 years old, so I enjoy integrating that knowledge into my day to day interactions with students. Another of my favorite things is getting kids excited to read whether it be by reading aloud to them, helping them find books in our library or making sure they each visit the annual Scholastic Book Fair. I am also an avid reader, writer, and researcher. On a personal note, I have been married to my husband Jim for 30 years and we have two beautiful daughters (who used to attend Evergreen). Rachael Holmdahl Art K-5 Rachael Holmdahl Art K-5 Email Education: After earning a B.A. in Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University, I went on to earn my Masters in Education degree at Southern Oregon University. Experience: I have been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. My experiences are in both primary and secondary grades, as well as Special Education. I enjoy teaching children and working with Evergreen families! Passions and Interests: I love working with children and helping them express themselves through art. I believe that all people can be creative when they allow themselves to explore art in a safe environment, free from judgement by peers and instructors. Art builds confidence in young people and it opens the mind to different perspectives and different emotions. A good art education in the primary years includes elements of art, principles of design, art history, and art criticism. I look forward to working with your child this year. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my children, husband, and cats. My interests include gardening, creating art, and being outside. Elizabeth Kerr 1st Grade Elizabeth Kerr 1st Grade Email Education: I hold a B.A. in Liberal Studies from California Sate University, Chico, as well as a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with an emphasis in CLAD from California State University, Sonoma. Experience: I have been a part of Evergreen Academy for just over a year Prior to working at Evergreen I had the opportunity to work for both charter and public schools in the capacity of a kindergarten classroom teacher, as well as, a k-12 substitute. I have experience working in California, Massachusetts and Washington State. Interests: Educating young minds has my heart and I find immense joy in being part of my students’ journeys in obtaining a love for learning. When not at work, I enjoy hiking the local trails with my dogs, going to the movies, and traveling to new and exciting places with my family. I have been a teacher for twenty- three years, having taught various grade levels, and seven years of Community Adult School. I enjoy teaching very much and helping others become life-long learners. I love the energy I feel from the students’ excitement, when they reach a goal. In my spare time, I enjoy sports activities, writing songs and stories, and of course, spending time with my wonderful wife and four children. I am blessed to have a job that I love! Experience: I currently teach 3rd grade here at Evergreen. I also have experience teaching Physical Education, as well as assisting in preschool classrooms (ages 3-5). I have been teaching at Evergreen since 2008, when I began at the preschool. I worked as an assistant in the preschool while I was attending college to earn my teaching degree. Passion/Interest: As a teacher, one of my passions is seeing the growth the students make throughout the year. I love looking through their work to see the great strides they have made academically. Outside of teaching, I love to spend time with my husband, our two sons, family, and friends, and I love music and going to live concerts! Amy Morey Principal Amy Morey Principal Email Linda Park 2nd Grade Linda Park 2nd Grade Email At Evergreen Academy since 2021 Education: Bachelor of Science, Childhood Education, and minor in Sociology from Post University. Experience: I have been in education and teaching for 13 years. I’ve taught various grades from Pre-k to Grade 6. I’ve taught mostly in NYC and this will be my second year teaching in Washington. Passions/Interests: Inside the classroom, I love creating proactive lessons. It is important to conduct positive outcomes for social, academic, and cultural goals.
