Dedicated Leaders & Expert Teachers

At our school, everyone works together to make sure students and families feel happy and supported. Our leaders, staff, and teachers are all here to help. Our teachers love sharing what they know, whether it’s about reading, music, or outer space! They make learning fun and exciting, helping students explore new things and find what they love. Together, we create a special place where students can grow and learn every day.

From the Principal

Amy Morey

Dear Families,

Thank you for your interest in Evergreen Academy Elementary School. Since 1977, we have taken great pride in providing an exceptional education for students in Pre-K through 5th grade. We are one of the top private schools in the Bothell area. Our parents love our project-based curriculum and dedicated teachers.

At Evergreen, we offer specialty classes in the performing arts, language, technology, and physical education. We have instructors that are dedicated to these content areas. They work closely with our classroom teachers. Together they provide a meaningful experience that connects students’ work in the classroom to their lives outside of school.

We create learning plans that reflect each student’s unique strengths, interests, and areas for growth. These plans support development across social, emotional, and academic areas. We also use a variety of assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction to ensure every child stays on track.

Learning happens both inside and outside the classroom. We bring real-world experiences to students through field trips, guest speakers, hands-on projects, and service learning activities.

Our students grow into compassionate, confident, and creative problem-solvers. Our teachers make sure learning is exciting, meaningful, and engaging. We also work closely with parents and the community because we know how important the connection between home and school is for student success.

Please feel free to contact me to schedule a tour. I’d love the opportunity to meet you, learn more about your child, and talk about how we can work together to support their success. In the meantime, visit us on social media to see some of our exciting activities.

Warmly,
Amy Morey
Principal

At Evergreen Academy since 2013

Education: After earning a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a focus on elementary education from California State University at Sacramento I went on to secure my elementary teaching credential from Chapman University. I hold a credential in both California and Washington State.

Experience: I have been a classroom teacher for 22 years. My experience is in both primary and secondary grades and with Gifted And Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) students.  I enjoy teaching kindergarten and working with Evergreen families!

Passions and Interests: I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their education. I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect. An education should empower a child and help him or her make a positive contribution to our world. I look forward to working with you and child this year. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and family. My interest include hiking, boating, reading and gardening.

At Evergreen Academy since 1997

Education: B.A. in Elementary Education, Pacific Lutheran University; M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction, Lesley University

Experience: I have taught at Evergreen Academy since 1997, in both Kindergarten and First Grade. During my time here, I have also enjoyed training teachers in new curriculum, developing and improving our Kindergarten program, and working with O.P.T. to build our school community.

Passions & Interests: I love the Northwest and all it has to offer, especially the opportunities to spend time outdoors enjoying the trees, the mountains, and the animals. My Yorkie and I get out for walks and exploring as often as we can. My other hobbies include traveling, photography, digital design, and perusing antique shops. My true passion, however, is teaching. I love working with these amazing kids, guiding them to discover and create each day.

Passion/Interests: As a teacher, one of my passions is creating a classroom environment where students can be themselves and learn to advocate for themselves and others. I love watching my students grow as they prepare for middle school. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, crafting, swimming, being outdoors, and spending time with my loved ones. Fun fact, I taught swim lesson, lifeguarded, and coached swimming before I became a teacher!

I am thrilled to be part of the Evergreen Academy Faculty and honored to teach your children this Romance language which is spoken by nearly 500 million people around the world!!

I was born in Chile in a small town named Vallenar and my native language is Spanish. We moved to US in 2002 to live in Fairbanks, Alaska, where we lived two years, then we moved to Bothell, WA. I have four children and eight grandchildren.

I hold a Bachelor’ s degree in Metallurgical Engineering and a Master’ s degree in Teaching with a major in Special Education. I am also certified to teach in WA State from preK-12 grade.

I worked several years as a Metallurgical Engineer at the Gold Mines in Chile and I have an extensive volunteering work experience at the schools in WA as Assistant Teacher, Substitute teacher, and Parent volunteer. This is my first year working as a Spanish Teacher.

My hobbies among others are listening music, playing some acoustic guitar, swimming, traveling, and spending quality time with my family!

At Evergreen Academy since 2006

Education: BA The Evergreen State College with focus on academic research, research design, and data management.  MLIS San Jose State University

Experience: Prior to teaching, I worked two years in the Daniel J. Evans Library at The Evergreen State College and five years as a Research Data Coordinator with the University of Washington Osteoporosis Research Group managing data for up to twelve Phase III Clinical Drug Trials and co-authoring academic research papers. In my summers off from teaching I have done Scratch programming enrichment camps here at Evergreen. I am also an author and currently have one published book: Images of America, Leavenworth (Arcadia Publishing).

Passions/Interests: One of the best things about being a technology teacher and librarian is when former students visit and tell me how much they appreciate everything I have taught them. I love knowing that when students move on to the next step in their educational career they are ready and able to use the library and technology resources available to them to further their learning. I have also been working with computers and programming since I was about 9 years old, so I enjoy integrating that knowledge into my day to day interactions with students. Another of my favorite things is getting kids excited to read whether it be by reading aloud to them, helping them find books in our library or making sure they each visit the annual Scholastic Book Fair. I am also an avid reader, writer, and researcher. On a personal note, I have been married to my husband Jim for 30 years and we have two beautiful daughters (who used to attend Evergreen).

Education: After earning a B.A. in Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University,  I went on to earn my Masters in Education degree at Southern Oregon University.

Experience: I have been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. My experiences are in both primary and secondary grades, as well as Special Education.  I enjoy teaching children and working with Evergreen families!

Passions and Interests: I love working with children and helping them express themselves through art. I believe that all people can be creative when they allow themselves to explore art in a safe environment, free from judgement by peers and instructors.  Art builds confidence in young people and it opens the mind to different perspectives and different emotions.  A good art education in the primary years includes elements of art, principles of design, art history, and art criticism. I look forward to working with your child this year.

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my children, husband, and cats. My interests include gardening, creating art, and being outside.

What are the benefits of full-day kindergarten?

Full-day kindergarten creates time for the kind of learning that cannot be rushed — and at Evergreen Academy, that time is used in a way that is unlike anything else in elementary education. Our kindergarten program includes KidTown, a signature experience in which students visit local fire stations, grocery stores, and pet shops, then return to the classroom to build their own versions from the ground up. They staff the stores. They earn their own currency. They make real decisions about how to spend it , whether that means buying pizza (served in appropriately pizza-scented Play-Doh form) or casting a line at the fishing pond. This is not a simulation of learning. It is learning at its most alive, and it requires every hour of a full day to do it justice. Learn more about our elementary curriculum.

What are the benefits of private school?

The measure of a private school education is what students remember when they look back, and at Evergreen Academy, every year gives students something they will carry for a lifetime. First graders pack their suitcases and “fly” to Antarctica, immersing themselves in a deep, imaginative study of penguin life and polar ecosystems. Second graders become entrepreneurs, organizing their own farmer’s market complete with student vendors representing products from every grade’s area of study. Third graders camp at the foot of Mount St. Helens, experiencing the science of geology and natural history in the landscape that shaped it. These are not enrichment additions to an otherwise conventional curriculum. Learn more about what makes us singular on our Only At page.

What does it mean to be an Apple Distinguished School?

Apple Distinguished School status is one of the most selective honors in global education. At Evergreen Academy, this recognition reflects the depth and intentionality with which technology is integrated into every dimension of daily learning. Our educators use technology not as a tool for passive consumption, but as a catalyst for creative thinking, collaborative inquiry, and learning that is tailored to each individual child. For a school already committed to hands-on, experiential education, Apple Distinguished status is a natural expression of that same commitment, extended into the digital realm. Learn more on our Classroom Technology page.

How does Evergreen Academy Preschool and Elementary School Bothell compare to surrounding schools?

Evergreen Academy offers a private school education that is distinguished not merely by what it teaches, but by how it teaches, and by the experiences it builds around learning that students simply cannot find anywhere else. From KidTown in kindergarten to the Mount St. Helens camping trip in 3rd grade, from student-run farmer’s markets to Antarctic explorations, Evergreen Academy is built on the conviction that the experiences of childhood are not separate from education, they are its most powerful form. We are proud to be recognized as one of the best private schools in Bothell by Niche.
