Evergreen Academy Montessori of Issaquah

Since 2012, Evergreen Academy Montessori in Issaquah has built something truly special: a tight-knit preschool community where every child is known by name and every family feels at home. Following Dr. Maria Montessori’s methods, our mission is to help children build essential skills, develop positive habits, and foster a love of learning. Through mixed-age classrooms, uninterrupted work time, and Montessori materials, we help children learn how to think, explore new things, and understand the world. By focusing on personal growth along with academics, we prepare them for success in school and beyond. Many of our preschool students continue their education at our sister school in Bothell after graduating from our program. Schedule a tour and discover the difference our community makes. We are located between Pike Lake Middle School & Providence Point..

Charitable Giving

We proudly support nearby organizations such as the Issaquah Food Bank, KidVantage, PAWS, and Spiritwood Assisted Living through efforts like food drives, toy collections, and pet food drives. Our students take an active role by helping collect, pack, sort, and load donations, while older children create posters to encourage participation. With the support of our families, we recently donated 270 items to the Issaquah Food Bank, helping children see the impact they can make in their local community.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I enroll my child in preschool?

Evergreen Academy Montessori in Issaquah offers child care for children as young as 6 weeks old. The Montessori Method gives children the structure they need to make the most of their early years. It helps them develop motor and social skills while learning reading, math, and more. Our students grow into confident young learners who are excited to explore the world around them.

What makes Montessori different from other daycare curriculums?

Children choose work they are interested in and learn at a pace that suits them, all with guidance from our teachers. Our classrooms are calm and organized. They create the perfect space for learning and independence. We are unlike traditional daycare, which often includes more free play. We provide structured, engaging tasks that build creativity and essential skills. We also teach our students how to be kind, work together, and make good choices without the use of rewards or punishments.

What are the hours at Evergreen Academy Montessori Preschool in Issaquah?

We know that it is important for you to have reliable child care. We are open from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, providing you with the flexibility you need. Whether you are juggling work, appointments, or other events, you can be sure that your child is in a safe place.

What safety measures are in place at your school?

You will notice our security steps as soon as you walk into our school. We allow entry only to our families, staff, and registered visitors. All visitors must check in at the front desk, show ID, and wear a visitor badge while they are in the school. Only approved adults are allowed to pick up children in our care.

What is the difference between daycare and Montessori preschool?

People often use the words “daycare” and “preschool” to mean the same thing. However, we are more than just a daycare. Our program helps children become independent and learn about themselves through fun, guided activities that match their age. Our caring Montessori-trained teachers support children in thinking, making friends, and getting ready for school. Our preschool is for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. We give them a strong start for a lifetime of learning and success.

How does Montessori teach reading?

Montessori teaches reading by first building a strong foundation in phonetic awareness through hands-on, sensory-based activities. At Evergreen Academy Montessori, this child-centered approach allows students to progress at their own pace, naturally transitioning from recognizing sounds to reading words and simple stories. What are the qualifications for teachers at Evergreen Academy Montessori Preschool in Issaquah?

Most of our lead teachers have their undergraduate degree, and have finished training with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) or the American Montessori Society (AMS). Some have other training and experience to make sure they meet our standards. All of our teachers pass background checks and provide us with references and necessary certificates. They receive training in safety, like CPR, first aid, and how to help with allergies. They know how to stay calm and keep children safe in any situation. Our teachers stay up to date on best practices in the classroom, as well as participate in trainings such as child abuse prevention and behavior management.

How do teachers communicate with families?

We know that good communication is important when choosing a daycare for your child. That is why we make it a top priority! With our parent communication app, families get daily updates on their child’s activities and progress. The app is specially made for Montessori, with a helpful list of lesson descriptions that explain why each activity is important for your child’s learning at our school.
